You may be wondering what hours you should keep as a consignment store, and what would be best for your business – there are a wide variety of schedules to be found around the country. Here are some top tips for making sure that both you and your customers benefit from your store hours.
Be consistent. It’s OK to keep extended hours on weekends, but don’t have different hours for every day of the week – your customers won’t be able to remember!
Close sparingly. Your customers will view your hours, for better or worse, as an implied agreement with the public. Do try to stay open for them wherever possible!
Leave time for rest. The last thing you want to do is burn yourself or your staff out. We recommend closing one day per week, and closing for big holidays. This gives you time to get away from the store and renew your energy and vision, but it also makes it clear that you’re human, and not a slave to the almighty dollar.
